This WiNRADiO S-meter Calibrator is suited for an advanced user who requires absolute signal level measurements with 1000, 1500, 3000 series receivers, and improvement of S-meter accuracy of G303/G305 series WiNRADiO receivers by individual calibration. For the 1000/1500 and 3000 series of receivers, the S-meter Calibrator needs to be used in conjunction with the S-meter XRS Plug-in. (It is not to be confused with the Calibration Editor, which is a much simpler facility primarily suited for noise-floor calibration, and relying on a simple two-point formula to provide arbitrary relative values to be displayed by the in-built S-meter of the 1000/1500 and 3000 series WiNRADiO application.) The S-meter Calibrator will not affect the in-built panel S-meter for the 1000, 1500 and 3000 series of receivers. |

For the G303/G305 series of receivers, the S-meter Calibrator will affect the in-built panel S-meter and the use of the XRS plug-in meter is not necessary (it will yield the same result). The S-meter Calibrator makes it possible to create calibration tables for as many frequency points as required, and interpolate between these tables to arrive at absolute values in dBm, microvolts or S-units, for any arbitrary frequency the receiver is tuned to. The program requires the use of a synthesized signal generator to generate calibration levels in the frequency range of interest. The S-meter Calibrator includes commands to create, edit and manipulate the calibration tables, interpolate between individual calibration points within a particular table as well as between entire tables, view calibration graphs for individual frequencies and other useful facilities. The S-meter Calibrator is provided as an "as is" complimentary tool for WiNRADiO receiver users. The calibration procedures should not be attempted by persons without a deeper understanding of the underlying concepts, as WiNRADiO can only provide a limited technical support for this application, and can accept no liability for any problems arising from its use. |
