Overview

The WiNRADiO WR-3500i-DSP receiver complements the popular 3000-series by extending the operating frequency to 2.6 GHz, as well as offering additional IF bandwidths and improved AGC control.

This receiver is intended for government, military, security, surveillance, media monitoring and industrial applications.

The frequency range is 150 kHz to 2.6 GHz (for non-government customers in USA, cellular frequencies 825-849 and 869-894 MHz are excluded).

WiNRADiO Receiver In Use

The hardware/software package consists of the receiver card, Windows-based software, a start-up antenna and a user's manual.

The ISA card plugs into the motherboard of an IBM-compatible PC. Up to eight independently operating receivers can be controlled by a single PC - an ideal solution for high-performance multi-channel automatic monitoring systems.

There are two antenna connectors (a BNC for frequencies up to 1.5 GHz and an SMA connector for frequencies above 1.5 GHz) and a jack for an external speaker or headphone.

An in-built DSP is used for audio recording and playback and application-specific signal processing tasks can be added.

No cables or power supplies needed - no clutter on your desk. Just plug in and scan! Every office computer can be converted into an inconspicuous monitoring station with minimum operator training required.

Software

The WR-3500i-DSP software contains numerous advanced features, many tuning and scanning options, virtually unlimited memories and a rich on-line help facility.

The Spectrum Scope with Visitune includes various calculated spectra display. The scanned spectra can be stored and printed for later reference.

3000/3100 Series Spectrum Scope

The Spectrum Scope has a number of options allowing the user to customize the spectrum display. Several different types of spectra can be displayed, including differential spectra which are particularly suitable for monitoring of activity on a particular channel or in a particular band.

The multi-channel Signal Strength Recorder is useful for signal level observation and channel occupancy measurements. Signal level graphs can be stored and printed out.

3000/3100 Series Signal Strength Recorder

The multi-featured scanner facility can automatically record and log intercepted signals. The inbuilt DSP recorder can store recorded audio on the hard disk. This recording facility does not rely on the PC sound card - as many as eight WR-3500i-DSP receivers can record audio signals simultaneously into eight different files.

The in-built Task Manager makes it possible to program the receiver to perform many tasks automatically and make decisions based on user-specified conditions. These conditions include time and date, signal transitions, and events generated by the Digital Signal Processor (which can be user-specified). The performed tasks include setting of the receiver parameters, taking logs, recording, taking snapshots of spectra or signal strength graphs in a predefined range, commencing scanning or recording, starting a DSP program or alerting the operator.

An advanced and user-friendly Log Editor contains many advanced features making it possible to manipulate the logged frequencies easily and effortlessly. It also allows direct tuning of the receiver to the logged frequencies.

The 3100 Series software contains many other useful features which assist the integration of the receivers in professional surveillance systems. One such useful feature is external antenna control which can automtically switch the antenna to suit the received frequency range.

The DSP Signal Conditioner is supplied as standard part of the 3100-Series software, to provide a useful example of a DSP application. The Signal Conditioner contains four basic functions: a user-tunable bandpass filter, noise reduction, auto-notch and marker tone. Real-time FFT display shows the received signal (either before or after filtering). The bandpass filter whose idealized characteristics are shown above the real-time spectrum can be user-tuned by dragging the edges of the displayed passband (or the entire passband) using the mouse.

Extensive support is provided for software developers wishing to write their own applications code for this WiNRADiO receiver. A DSP application development kit is also available to assist the development of specialized DSP applications.
