The P25 decoder (APCO P25 Phase 2 Decoder) uses both an internal
software IMBE vocoder and an external hardware AMBE+2 vocoder for voice
decoding. The WiNRADiO P25 decoder plugin is used to receive digital
transmissions with a codec used to produce decoded audio from the
transmission. This device provides the necessary codecs to decode up to
8 (optionally 16) digital transmissions simultaneously.
The WiNRADiO P25 decoder can be used on systems with a single receiver, or up to 8 receivers.
It is especially suitable for multichannel systems (like the WiNRADiO MS-8128).
The WiNRADiO P25 decoder makes it possible to demodulate, decode, analyze and
monitor phase 1 and phase 2 types of APCO P25 digital signals
(excluding encrypted types) using the WiNRADiO WR-G39DDC, WR-G69DDC and WR-G315 series of receivers.
The screen shot here shows the G39DDC version of plugin where a
separate window is spawned. With the G315 version, the plugin is
embedded within the main application window.
The decoder supports the voice traffic on both inbound and outbound
channels, displays digital transmission parameters and supports a secondary transmission
channel if 2 TDMA channels on a single frequency are being transmitted.
Under a multichannel environment, the WiNRADiO P25 decoder comes with a
transparent software management system that assigns free channels to
the P25 decoder upon request. When the channel is no longer used, the decoder can
release it, making it available for another decoder or transmission.
Note: An APCO trunking option is under development
